Red Sox Star's Home Run Launches Team USA to Victory
FORT MYERS, Fla. — The young outfielder Roman Anthony made a spectacular debut with Team USA, hitting a towering two-run home run in their first exhibition game against the San Francisco Giants in Scottsdale, Arizona. The home run, a 394-foot blast into the right field concourse, came with no outs in the top of the sixth inning. After Cal Raleigh, the Seattle catcher and AL MVP runner-up, walked to lead off the inning, Anthony connected with a 93.8 mph fastball from Blade Tidwell, sending it soaring.
The USA pitcher, Logan Webb, who was in the middle of an interview with ESPN, was clearly impressed. "Look at that one," he said. "I’m really excited to watch this guy too."
