A Surprising Assessment from Pedro Acosta
In a recent MotoGP test at Sepang, KTM rider Pedro Acosta left many fans and experts scratching their heads with his assessment of the event. Despite some impressive improvements and positive signs, Acosta gave the test a surprisingly low rating, sparking curiosity and debate.
KTM has made significant strides with its 2026 bike, introducing major upgrades over the winter. The team's riders, including Acosta, tested a new chassis, aerodynamic solutions, and swingarms over three days. The RC16 consistently performed well, with Acosta placing eighth overall, setting his best time on day three.
However, Acosta was critical of his own performance, citing back-to-back chassis testing as a reason for not maximizing his potential. Despite this, he expressed conviction about the bike's direction for the upcoming Thailand test.
"I'm quite happy with the progress," Acosta said. "The morning's chassis testing affected my speed on new tires, but I'm convinced we're heading in the right direction. We also did some long runs to compare our performance against other brands, and it was a productive day overall."
Acosta added that KTM seems to have resolved last year's tyre wear issues, but new challenges have emerged. Despite his encouragement about KTM's progress, he rated the test only a six out of ten.
"The tyre wear situation is improving," he explained. "The bike feels more stable, and there are fewer surprises. But we still have work to do to understand and fix certain issues. To be honest, it was a very positive three days of testing, but I'd give it a six out of ten."
This assessment has left many wondering about Acosta's expectations and the criteria for his rating. Is he being overly critical, or does he have a unique perspective that others might miss?
And here's where it gets controversial: Should we trust Acosta's judgment, or is he being too hard on himself and his team? What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments and let's discuss!
